Social status of women in Germany
Even though many people deny it, gender inequality is still a huge issue in Germany. Women and girls often experience violence in their everyday life. When faced with these problems, people tend to look away or not believe the victims. This causes much more harm than one might think as there are still very few options for women, girls and relatives to get help, support or advice. This, next to a lack of education on this topic in our system and numerous other reasons, leads to a number of 117 dead women in 2019 which were killed by their (ex-)partner. Nowadays, every third day a woman loses her life because of her partners action. Every third women in this country experiences physical and/or sexual violence while 2 out of 3 gets sexually assaulted. Germany has to take more action and fight for equality and everyones safety as there are still many differences especially when it comes to violence.
